In a break from the norm we went full spectator mode as we attended, for the first time, the Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone. There was a mixture of action on track but it was more than just that with track sessions for Ferrari owners and sales opportunities for new models. Another visit to Silverstone for the crazy race that is the Birkett 6hr Relay. With terrible weather blighting the race it finished early behind the safety car just shy of the 6hr mark. The scratch race was a clear win for the Breakell Racing Heroes, who took victory by over two laps from RJ Motorsport. The early finish did stop the close battle for the final podium place as Area Motorsport just edged out the Red Rascal’s. Toyota dominated a rain-hit opening round of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship season at Silverstone, as Mike Conway / Jose Maria Lopez / Kamui Kobayashi took victory. They lead home the sister car shared by Sebastien Buemi / Kazuki Nakajima / Brendon Hartley by just under two seconds. The no.3 Rebellion of Loic Duval / Pipo Derani / Nathanael Berthon completed the podium despite picking up two penalties for technical infringements, although the Swiss squad did enjoy two spells in the lead. Timmy Hansen claimed victory in a gripping final of the Dayinsure World RX of Great Britain at the SpeedMachine Festival, the fourth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.

Hansen thus became the first double winner of the 2019 season, following victory in Barcelona in round two in his Team Hansen MJP Peugeot 208. Read More »

A fantastic weekend of rallycross was capped off with drama through the semi-finals and then a closely fought final. The first semi final looked to be a routine 1-2 for the Hansen brothers in their 208’s with Timmy leading Kevin as they jokered on the last lap well ahead. Timmy got through okay but Kevin turned in too early and clipped the barrier on the inside of the hairpin left. By the time he got sorted out the top 3 places were gone. In the other semi final Janis Baumanis (Fiesta) got a flyer off the start, from the 3rd row, whilst Joni Wiman (i20) bogged down off the startline. The SpeedMachine Festival will pay tribute to one of Formula One’s most prestigious teams, ROKiT Williams Racing, with an off-track display at Silverstone from May 25-26.

In a homage to the iconic British outfit, founded by Sir Frank Williams, and a nod to the present, the Williams FW14B made famous by Nigel Mansell, will share the spotlight with an FW42 show car similar to that campaigned by George Russell and Robert Kubica in 2019. Read More »

Steve Brown made sure his switch from stage rallying to rallycross in 2019 started on the right foot, by enjoying a successful maiden outing at round one of the Toyo Tyres British Rallycross Championship at Silverstone Race Circuit last weekend (24th March).

The Rochdale driver took his Bellerby RX Racing Team BMW Mini through three qualifying heats and a semi-final to the final race of the single make championship during the weekend. Read More »
