Our first visit to the Channel Islands saw us take in the 35th running of the Jersey Rally. The weather could not have been better and with a whole host of local aces on show it proved to be a superb rally to go and watch. Steve Leonard & Sion Humphries (Escort MkII) took an excellent victory where they blitzed the Friday night stages, taking almost 2 minutes out of the next fastest crew in that leg alone. They went on to win by well over 3 minutes after measuring their pace through the Saturday stages. Darryl Morris & Steve Gully (Escort MkII) were 2nd overall and set most of the fastest stage times on Saturday afternoon, with Dave Oliveira & Kevin Irving (Escort MkII) completing the podium. Jason Pritchard and Phil Clarke have won the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship for the third time in a row after a nail-biting climax on the final round, the Trackrod Historic Cup (September 29/30).

It was a winner-takes-all showdown in the Yorkshire forests between Pritchard/Clarke and Nick Elliott and Dave Price and Elliott was seven seconds up when he slid off for over a minute on the fourth stage. After seeing his rival off the road, Pritchard and Clarke were able to ease their pace and take maximum points to become the first crew to take a hat-trick of BHRC titles. Read More »

• Hyundai Motorsport will contest the penultimate round of the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship WRC), Wales Rally GB, with a four-car line-up
• Thierry Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen will be joined by Hayden Paddon and Dani Sordo in the quartet of Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC cars
• The team’s crew line-up for the season finale at Rally Australia will be announced in due course.

• Renault Sport Formula One Team endured a difficult race at the Malaysia Grand Prix with driver Nico Hülkenberg finishing sixteenth overall.
• After spinning his car twice during the race, teammate Jolyon Palmer finished fifteenth.

Nico started the race from P8 on Supersoft (red) Pirelli tyres before pitting early in the race for a new set of Soft (yellow). He switched back to Supersofts after being forced to pit a second time for safety reasons. Read More »

19-year-old Ed Fossey sealed the 1400 BTRDA rally championship with a class win on the tough and demanding Trackrod Stages Yorkshire last weekend (30 September). The Jerseyman in his Yokohama Toyota Yaris produced a champion’s drive to clinch the title in his first full year of rallying. Read More »
