The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has given its initial response to Sheriff Maciver QC’s Determination regarding the Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) into the tragic events of the 2013 Snowman and 2014 Jim Clark Rallies, which was published today (Tuesday 21 November 2017).

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, said: “We welcome the publication of Sheriff Maciver’s Determination. In particular, we acknowledge his thoroughness during the FAI and we are grateful for the fact that he has delivered his report within just two months from the conclusion of evidence.

“We acknowledge the Sheriff’s analysis of the circumstances leading up to each accident, in both cases arising in the context of events that were organised by what were stated to be experienced volunteers demonstrating the highest levels of dedication and responsibility. Read More »

The Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT had a frustrating final leg of the season with two of its crews – Stéphane Lefebvre/Gabin Moreau and Craig Breen/Scott Martin – retiring after going off within a few minutes of each other. Northern Ireland’s International North West 200 motorcycle race, Ireland’s largest outdoor sporting event, is to have the support of Vauxhall for the 2018 event. This is the company’s sixth consecutive year as title sponsor.

Polestar Cyan Racing has maintained a double World Championship lead following a chaotic WTCC weekend on the extremely challenging Macau street circuit, with Thed Björk leading the drivers’ championship by 6,5 points ahead of the season finale in Qatar.

Despite a major disadvantage compared to his competitors of never having raced in Macau, Thed Björk did not put a wheel wrong all weekend and claimed two top five finishes to keep his lead over main title rival and Honda driver Norbert Michelisz who has raced at Macau five times before.

”This race weekend was the most difficult of my life in terms of making no mistakes and keeping the pace needed strategically. Irishman Marty McCormack drove his Kumho-shod MKII Ford Escort to a memorable outright victory in last weekend’s (November 10-13) Roger Albert Clark Rally – arguably the toughest British special stage event of the last 20 years.
