Bob Fowden is celebrating 40 years in rallying this year, and far from slowing down the popular Llanelli-based driver is upping the game and aiming for two titles in 2018, including the 2018 Protyre MSA Asphalt Rally Championship, in his ex-works Comline Auto Parts/NGK-backed Subaru Impreza WRC S11.

Fowden began his long rallying career in 1978, driving a Mini on forest events. Impressive early performances soon attracted the attention of John Davenport, the British Leyland Team Manager, which allowed Fowden to upgrade to an ex-works Triumph TR7, in which he started to contest Tarmac rallies – winning the first Mewla Stages in 1982. An ex-works Rover 3500 Vitesse followed, with many more victories on Epynt until the big car began to show its age and was replaced in 1988 with a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. Read More »

Few racing cars are restored forty years later by the very people that built it in the first place, but that’s exactly what’s happened to the little-known Connew F1 car, which will be on display at Race Retro, powered by Motor Sport, held 23-25 February at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

The car, featuring in the Motor Sport Hall of Fame Live, was built in a time when F1 was possible for those with big ambitions and small budgets, and not just a pipe dream. Read More »

Another trip up to Manchester for National Track Championships saw a long Saturday of action, for us. The highlights were many but Katie Archibald was on outstanding form and by the end of the weekend retained all three UK titles she won back in 2017. There was also the succesfiul return to form for Phil Hindes and Jason Kenny as they took the sprint title alongside Ryan Owens & Jack Carlin. Read More »
