The battle for the 2021 McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK N.I. Rally Championship crown is going down to the wire this weekend when the contenders lock horns for the final time this Saturday (16 October) at the Go Power Tour of the Sperrins Rally.

Jonny Greer and Kirsty Riddick secured victory at today’s PRM Group/RPM Motorsport-backed Loughgall Stages Rally, round three of the McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK N.I. Rally Championship!

Based within the beautiful confines of County Armagh’s Loughgall Country Park, a capacity entry of 100 crews tackled six tree-lined stages. Motorsport returns to Loughgall Country Park this Saturday for round three of the McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK N.I. Rally Championship – and for the first time since March last year, spectators will be permitted to attend!

The PRM GROUP and RPM MOTORSPORT backed Loughgall Stages Rally has received a capacity entry of 100 crews that will battle for the spoils within the beautiful confines of the County Armagh park. They will tackle a total of six stages, all based in the park, providing an exciting and adrenaline-fuelled day out for spectators at the North Armagh Motor Club organised event.

It will be the first time that the rally has hosted a round of the Championship and for many of the title contenders, it will be their first visit to the potentially tricky venue. Portglenone’s Desi and Mark Henry claimed a last gasp victory at the Eakin Bros Brian James Trailers Dogleap Stages Rally, round two of the McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK N.I. Rally Championship!

Based at the Shackleton Complex in Ballykelly, near Limavady, the Henrys trailed long-time rally leaders Jonny Greer and Kirsty Riddick by over 10 seconds when they entered the final stage. Having set fastest times on the five previous stages, it looked as though Championship leader Greer was on course for victory until his hopes were dashed by a pothole early on the sixth and final stage. Based within the confines of the expansive Shackleton Complex in Ballykelly, near Limavady, the Eakin Bros Brian James Trailers Dogleap Rally will see Championship leader Jonny Greer (Citroen C3) continue battle with Derek McGarrity (Fiesta WRC) and reigning champion Stephen Wright (Fiesta R5) at the Maiden City Motor Club organised event. This year’s PRM Group and RPM Motor Sports backed Loughgall Stages Rally will host a round of the McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK N.I. Rally Championship for the first time.

Taking place on Saturday 21 August, the North Armagh Motor Club Ltd organised event will host round three of the Championship and will be held within the beautiful confines of County Armagh’s Loughgall Country Park.

PRM Group and RPM Motor Sports have agreed to sponsor the event for the first time. Managing Director, Philip Morrow, said:

Jonny Greer and Kirsty Riddick have won the McGrady Insurance Stages Rally, round one of the McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK Northern Ireland Rally Championship!

Their victory marked a hugely successful return to action for rallying. It was the first stage rally held in Northern Ireland since March 2020 and with the sun beating down on County Down’s Bishopscourt Race Circuit – the same venue that hosted the last event before the pandemic took hold – Greer and Riddick romped home to victory with their Citroen C3 R5. Based just outside Downpatrick at Bishopscourt Race Circuit, the Bishopscourt Stages Rally is also sponsored by McGrady Insurance and has attracted a full capacity entry of 100 crews.

The event marks the first stage rally to be held in Northern Ireland since the pandemic was declared last year. Spectators will not be permitted into the venue on this occasion but fans can follow regular updates via the Championship’s website and social media. Read More »

Reigning Northern Ireland Champion Stephen Wright has secured his second consecutive victory at the Pacenotes Rally Magazine Stages, round one of the McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK NI Rally Championship.

Navigated by Gary McKenna, Wright mastered the treacherously wet and windy conditions to secure the win at the North Armagh Motor Club event by 5.2 seconds from Derek and Mark McGeehan, with former champions Derek McGarrity and Paddy Robinson third. Read More »
