grizedale13 (8)Another glorious day up in the Lake District saw Matthew Wilson & Chris Patterson (Fiesta R5) take a well fought win after 2012 winners Alex Allingham & Chris Williams (Impreza) took the initial lead following the two tests through Dunnerdale. With the longer stages that followed Wilson took control and eventually won 46 seconds from Allingham. Paul Bird & Aled Davies (Focus WRC) were close behind in 3rd but a mechanical failure on stage 4 saw them retire allowing Derek McGeehan & Darragh Mullen (Mini WRC) to complete the podium. FIA World Endurance Champion elect Allan McNish starts his hybrid-diesel Audi sportscar from fourth position in the eighth and final round of the series in Bahrain tomorrow (SAT).

McNish, from Dumfries, and French co-driver Loïc Duval set a combined average fastest lap time of 1min 43.145secs around the 3.91-mile Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir during today’s (FRI) 25mins qualifying session for the 28-car grid staged in warm but misty weather conditions.

Two drivers must record a minimum of two “flying” laps each with the grid decided by the combined average of each driver’s fastest two laps. Read More »

Samira Khan and Chantal Young successfully completed every single day of this mammoth nine day adventure across East Africa. Samira accomplished this same feat in 2011.

Day 8 – Taita Hills to Mombasa

After nine gruelling days, eight of which were competitive, and over 3,700 kilometres of some of the roughest and most scenic roads in Africa, the Amigos Tequila-flavoured beer branded car of Chesterfield’s Steve Perez and Yorkshire co-driver John Millington has reached the finish of the 2013 East African Safari Classic Rally in fourth position, having withstood the pressures of both a Kenyan and an African rally champion chasing them across Kenya and Tanzania.

Steve Perez - EASC13 - Day7bDay 6 – Naivasha Sopa to Naivisha Sopa

Competitive Day 6 saw car number 7, the Amigos Tequila-flavoured beer branded car of Steve Perez and John Millington, grimly hang onto their fourth position overall on the 2013 East African Classic Safari Rally.
