The aim was to finish the ORLEN 79th Rally Poland – after all, this was Osian Pryce’s first rally for seven months, in a new team, in a new car and with a new co-driver – and he achieved precisely that with a pitch-perfect, controlled, intelligent and drama free run to 16th on his FIA European Rally Championship debut (out of 58 registered ERC drivers).

As the reigning British rally champion, Pryce is by nature an extremely competitive sportsman who competes to win. But on this occasion learning about his brand new Škoda Fabia Rally2, building a rapport with new co-driver Stéphane Prévot and getting to know his new MAPO Motorsport team were the key objectives – and that would be best achieved by completing all 16 stages and 113 stage miles (182kms). Organised by Magherafelt and District Motor Club, Jennings eventually arrived home victorious in his Ford Fiesta R5 by five seconds after a day-long battle over six closed road stages with the Citroen C3 belonging to Jonny Greer and Niall Burns.

It was reigning champion Greer who was quickest out of the blocks in his Citroen. He emerged from the opening stage with a 1.4s lead over Jennings but that was to be his only fastest time of the day. Instead, Jennings started to reel his rival in on stage two, clawing back slender amounts of time before moving to the head of the leaderboard after the third stage. Read More »

Rochdale based rally driver Steve Brown made his first trip to the Isle of Man’s Manx National Rally [12-13 May] in almost seven years last weekend, but endured a troublesome return during the tough two-day event.

Brown and co-driver Arwel Jenkins would lie just six seconds away from a category podium during the opening stages of the event in their Nissan Micra Kit Car, before a series of misfortune sent them tumbling down the leaderboard. Thanks to the efforts of the service crew and generosity of a fellow competitor, the pairing were able to continue and salvage a much needed finish. Read More »
