The sunshine island of Gran Canaria has joined the 2010 IRC calendar after the loss of the Asturias rally on mainland Spain in September.

With only a short break for the teams after the two rallies based in South America, it was full steam ahead to get the cars prepared for the first all tarmac rally of this year’s IRC. This weekend, Round Three of the 2010 Citroën Racing Trophy (CRT) Ireland heads to the South West for the Killarney Rally of the Lakes. Once again there is an impressive line-up of Citroën C2’s for what is also the third round of the Citroën Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. Twelve registered CRT crews have entered with ten C2 R2 Max specification cars, one C2 R2, and one Super 1600 making up the Citroën entries. Read More »

The award winning Merrick Stages Rally in south-west Scotland has received a major boost with the confirmation of sponsorship from global tyre manufacturer Hankook.

It comes as organisers firm up plans to return the rally to its “roots” – with the start/finish and event headquarters based in Wigtown.

It is also hoped to use the rally on September 4th for the launch of a new young drivers’ initiative. Read More »

Ramsey’s David Harrison headed to round two of the Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship, the Pirelli International Rally in Carlisle at the weekend.

Heading in to the event David, and co-driver John Connor held on to second in the Swift Sport Cup section of the Championship and were looking for another strong haul of points before the season switches to tarmac for the next three rounds. After a fraught recce in which the pair picked up no less than three punctures they started the event from Carlisle racecourse on Friday evening for the first of three evening stages. Read More »

Revolution Wheels backed Belgium Rally Driver Vincent Verschueren and co-driver Lara Vanneste overcame a down on power engine in their Symtech Racing Subaru Impreza STR09 to finish the recent Rallye de Wallonie fourth in the production class. Read More »

The weekend saw challenging conditions for Jonathan Cunningham (26) from County Galway but now living in Workington and navigator Richard Millener (26) from Workington, UK.  Cunningham who currently leads the UK Fiesta SportChallenge (FSC) series run by M-Sport undertook two high class rally events in two days, taking in the Pirelli Rally in Carlisle on Saturday followed by the Monaghan Stages rally in Ireland on Sunday.  After high hopes for two top podium positions, it was just not to be as the crew settled for 3rd in the FSC on the Pirelli rally after troubles hit the crew and then Cunningham failed to finish the Irish event after a gearbox failure put an end to his hectic weekend. Guy, who currently lies second in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge after two second-place finishes on rallies in Brazil and Argentina, collected his stunning Octavia vRS from Škoda UK’s headquarters in Milton Keynes – and immediately got to enjoy his new car courtesy of a 200 mile drive back home to Darlington. It was a day of drama and surprises and survival in Kielder Forest on Saturday (26 April) for the second round of the Dunlop/ MSA British Historic rally Championship, the Pirelli Historic Rally.

Will Onions and Dave Williams took their maiden victory in category three, after Bulldog Rally winner Nick Elliott rolled his Escort on the third stage. In category two Peter Smith and Russ Langthorne (Porsche 911) were the surprise winners after the top three all went off on the final stage in Bewshaugh. Meanwhile, Graham Waite and Gill Cotton (Volvo Amazon) regained the lead in category one on the last stage, after Jonathan Gale’s Sunbeam Tiger seemed set for victory. Read More »

Builth Wells rally driver Jason Pritchard survived punctures, severe dust and the infamous Kielder Forest to finish last weekends Pirelli International Rally sixth overall and in doing so moves up to third overall in the 2010 Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship! Read More »
