Exactly one year ahead of the start of the rally, the 2021 Roger Albert Clark Rally has received an overwhelming response since outline details of the biennial rally were announced.

At 1500hrs on 25 November 2021, the first competitor will leave the start to head into five days of rallying across England, Scotland and Wales and there is every reason to expect very high demand for entries based on the feedback from the last few days. Read More »

In light of continued health concerns regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the organiser of the World Rallycross of Germany, scheduled to take place 12-13 December, has decided to cancel the final event of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross season. As the World RX of Germany event was the last scheduled event of the season, championship points leader Johan Kristoffersson has been named the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Champion, and KYB Team JC win the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship for Teams. Motorsport UK confirms that the sport will resume in England with effect from 2 December, subject to local restrictions.

This confirmation follows the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson that the second lockdown imposed on 4 November will be lifted as planned, and sport may restart in line with the regional tier system. Furthermore, venues in Tier 1 and Tier 2 regions will be allowed to admit spectators on a limited basis.

Motorsport UK will resume the sport in accordance with its Getting Back on Track protocols, which have guided the safe resumption of motorsport since the lifting of the first lockdown on 4 July. The governing body will also liaise with the DCMS and stakeholders to ensure the application of the spectator guidelines by clubs and venues. Read More »

Following today’s announcement by government of their support package for sports impacted by the loss of spectator revenues, Motorsport UK can confirm that a loan fund of £6 Million is to be made available to the principal circuit venue operators in England.

The UK governing body for motorsport worked closely with the operators to provide a detailed assessment of the impact of lost revenue from spectators to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). This study was with specific focus on the long-term viability of these venues, in recognition of how vital they are to the infrastructure of the sport. Read More »

Outline details of the 2021 Roger Albert Clark Rally have been announced and planning is underway for another epic stage rallying challenge over five days in November.

The event will run from Thursday 25 to Monday 29 November and rally manager Colin Heppenstall is planning to make the 14th edition of the biennial rally at least as tough as the hugely successful 2019 event. The final round of the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe took place with a 40-car field tackling the 1000km of Circuit Frank Bird Paul Ricard at the weekend but it was to end in disappointment for Bentley Motorsport Academy drivers Frank Bird, Nicolai Kjærgaard, and Euan McKay. Read More »

Motorsport UK has concluded the tender it launched on 7 September in relation to the promotion and organisation of the British Superkart Championship and the British Superkart Grand Prix.

Following a detailed review of the category it has been decided that the governing body will take on the organisation of the Championship and Grand Prix for a period of three years, with the operational support of Super Karting UK.

This long-term commitment to the future of superkarting is intended to build a stronger structure, and to invest in the promotion and growth of the sport. Steve Brown ensured his return to the stages was a positive one, as the Rochdale driver scooped a class podium at the Cotswolds Stages Rally in Gloucestershire last Saturday (31st October).

Despite being out of the driver’s seat of his Nissan Micra Kit Car for over 2 years, Brown proved that he had lost none of his flair by taking 20th overall and third in class at the tricky Down Ampney based event. Read More »

American motor sport star Ken Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino claimed a memorable victory in Sol Rally Barbados 2020 at the weekend (October 31/November 1), defeating not only three of the event’s most successful drivers of recent years, but also the elements . . . and doing so from the fast-growing FIA R5 class. Postponed from its regular June date because of the coronavirus pandemic, the 31st running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event was hit by frequent and heavy rain showers, which made for treacherous conditions, testing drivers to the full.

Campaigning a brand-new EcoBoost-powered Ford Fiesta Rally2 with support from Ford Performance and Monster Energy, which he had driven for only a few hours on Thursday – and that was his first drive in a Fiesta R5 for 15 months – Block dispelled the doubts of the naysayers with a masterly drive. On stage at the Vaucluse Raceway Prizegiving, he said: “It was a really great event with great competition. What struck me more was the atmosphere; it was brilliant with the competitors and all the fans.” Read More »

Motorsport UK has consulted on the implications for motorsport in England with the Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in respect of the plan to enter a four-week national lockdown on Thursday 5th November.

The governing body confirms that following DCMS guidance it must suspend all non-elite motorsport until 2nd December. Selected elite events officially recognised by the DCMS, which include the British Touring Car Championship, will be permitted to continue. Read More »
