Britain’s Frank Bird was in scintillating form once again as he took part in the 74th running of the famous TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa but despite leading the race at one point, the Cumbrian along with teammates Jannes Fittje from Germany, Jordan Love from Australia, and Swiss driver Alain Valente, had to retire after 16 hours of competition. The legendary Belgian venue of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will see the 74th running of the famous TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa this forthcoming weekend with Cumbrian driver Frank Bird set to contest the event for the Haupt Racing Team.

Penrith-born Frank will contest the Silver Cup category as part of a three-car entry for the German team and will be at the wheel of the #4 Haupt Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 with three other drivers sharing the stints over the 24 hours.

Bird will be joined by German Jannes Fittje, Jordan Love from Australia and Swiss driver Alain Valente. Frank has already seen action for the Haupt Racing Team this year as together with Love, he made a guest appearance at the International GT Open weekend in Spa, where they finished runner-up. Team Parker Racing suffered more bad luck in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, as a Team Parker software glitch and gearbox failure cost it a legitimate shot at a podium at this year’s 24 Hours of Spa.

The classic race, usually held in the heat of July, moved to a late October date due to the rescheduled 2020 calendar, meaning the team not only had to contend with cool ambient temperatures and increased inclement weather, but also a race held under more hours of darkness than daylight. Team Parker Racing is set to resume action in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup as it tackles the daunting 24 Hours of Spa over this forthcoming late autumnal weekend of (October 22-25).

Due to directives issued by the National Security Council of Belgium, which include the suspension of all outdoor events in the country in light of global health concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus), this year’s World RX of Benelux at Spa-Francorchamps on May 16-17 has been re-scheduled.

This decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with the FIA, the Belgian ASN and the local event organizer, as the health and safety of everyone involved remains our priority.
