Nicky Grist Stages postponed

This summer’s Nicky Grist Stages, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday 11 July, has been postponed – owing to a number of key logistical issues directly caused by the coronavirus outbreak. The event organiser, Quinton Motor Club, is hoping to run the 2020 event later in the year, and is working on an alternative date in late November.

World RX eSports head to Montalegre for round two

Following the resounding success of the inaugural World RX Esports Invitational series event, IMG can confirm today that the second round – the Montalegre Edition – produced in partnership with Motorsport Games and Codemasters, will be streamed live from 14:00 BST (15:00 CET) on Sunday, May 3 on World RX YouTube

John Price, who sadly passed away earlier this week, contested a remarkable total of 859 rallies.

The 12 time Asphalt Rally Champion also drove some of the world’s most exotic, and difficult to tame, rally cars during that incredible 50 year career – including Porsche 911s, Renault 5 Maxi Turbos, BMW M3s and Metro 6R4s, each immaculately prepared by his John Price Rallying business.

2020 Today’s Ulster Rally Postponed

The Northern Ireland Motor Club regrets to announce the postponement of the ‘2020 Today’s Ulster Rally’ due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. The current lockdown conditions required to contain the spread of the virus are preventing the organising team from safely carrying out the necessary preparations for the event including the very important special stage public relations work. The event is dependent on the support of local communities and residents and we do not want to increase the risk to them, nor our volunteers. A significant amount of work has already been done by our volunteers and we extend our thanks to them for that, with the intention that this will be carried forward to the August 2021 event.

Protyre Asphalt eSports championship ready to launch on DiRT Rally 2.0

We’re all missing real rallying at the moment, so the Protyre Motorsports UK Asphalt Rally Championship is launching an open and FREE to enter eSports championship on the fantastic DiRT Rally 2.0 game!

The best WRC asphalt stages, which represent the very best British sealed-surface speed tests, have been selected for a five round series – like the Col de Turini, Panzerplatte and the twisty closed roads above Barcelona.

TOCA issues revised 2020 BTCC calendar

Provisional dates produced pending future government directives

Series Organiser, TOCA, has today (27 April) issued a revised provisional calendar for the 2020 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, comprising nine events and a total of 27 races, all of which will be screened live and exclusively on the ITV network.

TOCA has taken the decision to provisionally plan events from August onwards, however, the calendar will of course remain conditional upon receiving appropriate government directives and approvals regarding the resumption of sporting activities. Should the BTCC be unable to resume at that time, the calendar will be amended accordingly.

Projekt E development continues

IMG and STARD (Stohl Advanced Research and Development), partners in the Projekt E electric support series, have reconfirmed their intention for the Projekt E racing programme to proceed in 2020.

While the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar is undergoing change due to government health directives amid COVID-19, the objective is to stage five Projekt E events at selected European rounds of World RX in 2020. Further details on the final calendar of Projekt E events will be released in due course.

John Price: 1944 – 2020

It is with great sadness that the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship has learned of the passing of its 12 time champion, John Price.

John started competing in 1965, but it was his domination of Britain’s premier asphalt rally series in the 1980s, ‘90s and early 2000s that marks him as a true champion of champions.

FIA announces decision to defer World Rallycross Championship electric switch to 2022

The FIA has announced its decision to postpone the electrification implementation plan for 2021 by one year, due to the economic challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision, which was approved today by a World Motor Sport Council e-vote, was taken in consultation with IMG, the promoter of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, as well as Kreisel Electric, the approved supplier of the electrification kit, and GCK Energy, the approved supplier of energy. All parties remain committed to the original strategy built around independent teams that are currently competing in, or looking to enter the series, which was conceived with sustainability and cost control at its core.

Adielsson takes victory in dramatic opening round of World RX eSports Invitational

Swedish rally driver Mattias Adielsson upstaged the FIA World Rallycross Championship regulars, invited stars and professional gamers to claim a dramatic victory in the opening round of the World RX Esports Invitational – the Catalunya Edition.

The inaugural event, run on DiRT Rally 2.0 in partnership with Codemasters and Motorsport Games, attracted a grid of 20 drivers and took place on the virtual Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the venue for the scheduled opening round of the 2020 world championship which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
