There was another inter-Christmas and New Year event back on in 2021 as we attended the Plum Pudding Historic Sporting Trial, near Buriton, Hampshire. The entry had been reduced somewhat but a total of 42 crews tackled the 6 hills, being run 3 times. As usual there were two classes and Simon Kingsley took the historic section whilst Ian Wright took the historic class. After missing out in 2020, for obvious reasons), the Boxing Day Cross was back at Kenilworth, as it approaches its 70th year of running. At the front it was a 3 way fight until the penultimate lap when Jason Young broke away to take victory. James Swadling ended up 2nd overall after fighting against the other two riders on the podium, who were working as a team. Completing the podium was Oliver Akers. With the unique nature of this event, having all competitors in one race it was Daniel Alexander who came home 15th overall and 1st veteran rider. Cumbrian driver Frank Bird was in scintillating form once again as he romped to his third outright rally win in as many months by dominating today’s MAXUS Dukeries Rally at Donington Park.

The event formed the third qualifying round of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship with MSVR and following his victory on the opening round at Oulton Park last month, 22-year-old Frank, from Penrith, along with Lake District-based co-driver Jack Morton decimated the opposition to win by over two and a half minutes. After missing out in 2020 it was back to Frocester for the Gloucester Sporting Trial. With 6 hills only the crews would tackle them 4 times as they look ahead to the championship finals, due in January. A total of 34 crews started with all the main contenders present. The conditions remained fairly consistent all day and once again it was another great days motorsport. Read More »

Organisers of the Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally are delighted to announce that the 27-29 May event will play host to some of the biggest rally championships in the country in 2022 as the rally returns to the British motorsport calendar.

The closed public roads around the Scottish borders will welcome the top-flight Motorsport UK British Rally Championship for the first time since 2014 as arguably the best drivers in the business will head to Duns to do battle on the opening two days of the event. Read More »
