Duns rally driver Garry Pearson led a Motorsport UK British Rally Championship round for the first time in his career last weekend, topping the timesheets after the opening leg of the final round of the series, the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally [28-29 October].

The Skoda Fabia R5 driver set the fastest overall time over the gruelling closed-road asphalt “Nebo” test on the Friday night, beating World Rally Championship ace Oliver Solberg in the process. He and co-driver Dale Furniss would go on to challenge for the lead of the BRC the following day, before an unfortunate impact with a rock ended their season with a zero score. Read More »

The 2022 Kingdom Junior Stages rally at Crail is round 7 of the 8 round Ecosse J1000 Challenge season, and it offers up a chance for the title to be decided.

Sam Pattison is the driver in the strongest position with 5 maximum points scores. With 6 out of 8 to count the Citigo pilot just needs 1 more win from the last 2 events to guarantee the title after an incredibly strong season.

Irish driver Kalum Graffin is the only other driver to take a win in 2022, topping the field on the 1st round of the season at Ingliston. Since then, his season has been a mix of ups and downs, including having to miss a round due to an injury. Team UK claimed a first-ever Gold medal, plus a further Bronze, on an action-packed day across all 10 disciplines at the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games.

Having dominated the Esports event thus far, James Baldwin built on his qualifying and quarter-final success with a similar storm to victory in the semi-final to advance to the main event, the 60-strong field whittled down to just 20 competitors.

On board his McLaren 720S, Baldwin was kept honest throughout the contest by his nearest rivals, Chris Harteveld (Netherlands) and Alberto Garcia Gomez of Spain, but held firm to win by 2.9 seconds and become the first ever British athlete to win a Gold medal at the FIA Motorsport Games. Cumbrian racing driver Frank Bird contested the seventh and final round of the ADAC GT Masters Series which was held at Hockenheim in Germany this weekend but missed out on a podium despite another strong performance.

As usual, driving for MANN-FILTER Team LANDGRAF, Penrith-born Frank was in action as he once again teamed up with teenage Finnish driver Elias Seppanen for the two races in the Frank Bird Poultry Ltd-backed Mercedes AMG-GT3. Read More »

Constant drizzle and rain blanketed Kielder forest for the final round of the British Historic and Scottish Rally Championships. In the BHRC it two way battle with Matt Edwards & Hamish Campbell (131 Abarth) needing to win and for Henri Grehan & Dan Petrie (Escort MkII) to finish lower than 4th. Edwards was fastest through the opening 3 stages but Grehan was 2nd overall. It all fell apart for Edwards on SS4 though as he retired and Grehan went on to take the BHRC victory and the 2022 title, in 6th overall. Tom Walster & Glyn Thomas (Escort MkII) were the 2nd 2WD crew home with Adrian Hetherington & Ronan O’Neill (Escort MkII) completing the 2WD podium. Read More »

It was great to be back in the Forest of Dean and it was Matthew Hirst & Declan Dear (Fiesta R5) who dominated the event. They took 6 out of the 7 fastest stage times to take victory by 47s. Robert Wilson & Martin Haggett (Evo VII) were 2nd overall and took the only other fastest stage time. Nik Elsmore & Rob Fagg (Evo IX) took the final podium place. Michael McDaid & Declan Casey (Escort MkII) were 6th overall and the 1st 2WD crew. Tim Freeman & Cliff Simmons (Escort MkII) were 10th overall and over a minute further back.
