Starting and finishing at Bicester Heritage the Per Ardua Ad Infinitum was a triumph to even start. Less than 24 hours before the event started new tiers were introduced for areas on the route, requiring a rapid change to the planned itinerary. With a very hard route, in terms of navigation, Paul Crosby & Andy Pullan took victory in their Porsche 911. Darell & Nicky Staniforth (Mini Cooper S) were an excellent 2nd after dropping back in the latter part of the event. Next year’s Nicky Grist Stages will host no less than six of the UK’s top national rally championships when the Builth Wells-based event takes place on Saturday 10 July 2021, with crews from the prestigious British Rally Championship (BRC) joining the likes of the hugely popular MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series and Motorsport UK Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship.

This means that the Quinton Motor Club-organised event, which has won the ‘BTRDA Best Rally of the Year’ award five times, will see the best British national rally crews tackle the classic mid-Wales forest stages of Crychan, Halfway and on the Epynt military ranges in an all-action, one-day, 45 stage mile rally festival. The action-packed British Rally Championship is all set for 2021, with Motorsport UK today (Wednesday 16 December) announcing the calendar for the new season ahead.

Motorsport UK and the UK Time Attack organisers are delighted to announce the formation of the Motorsport UK Drift Pro Championship, set to re-establish top-tier Drifting in Britain when it hits the tracks in the summer of 2021.

The Motorsport UK Drift Pro Championship has been developed by the Time Attack organising team in association with Motorsport UK, the national governing body of four-wheeled motorsport. This all-new series intends to implement a series of controlled regulations that will ensure professionally administered competition, participation by the sport’s leading drivers and the highest standard of cars.

Each round will be held at an established circuit, with the innovative judging and event formats designed to appeal to competitors and the many spectators and supporters that follow this spectacular motorsport discipline. Read More »

Motorsport UK are delighted to announce the winners of the 2020 Volunteer Awards. The past 12 months have included some of the most challenging and demanding in the sport’s history, and to acknowledge this, two further awards have been created to honour the incredible efforts of the UK motorsport volunteer community.

Rallycross organiser Jordine Crooks has been named the 2020 Volunteer of the Year, while the Club of the Year goes to the Bugatti Owners Club. In the two new categories, the Harold Palin Memorial Stage Rally team and Jonathan Millar will receive the Organising Team of the Year and Community Supporter of the Year respectively. All four winners will receive a prestigious Motorsport UK trophy, a cheque for £1000 to both organisations, £500 to both individuals, as well as a year-long subscription to Motorsport News. Motorsport UK are delighted to announce that entries are open for the 2020 Young Journalist and Young Photographer of the Year Awards.

Established in 2002, the governing body’s young media awards are designed to encourage and inspire the next generation of reporters and photographers working within UK motorsport.

An expert panel will consider the applications, with each winner receiving a trophy, a cheque for £1,000 and exclusive opportunities to work with Motorsport UK. Winners will also receive one year’s provisional membership of the Guild of Motoring Writers (GoMW), the world’s largest association of automotive editorial professionals. Read More »

Nissan Micra Kit Car ace Steve Brown rounded out a quieter than normal season with third in class at the Dukeries Rally, which took place at Donington Park Race Circuit on Sunday (6th December).

Acting as the opening round of the winter-based Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship, a bumper entry saw a healthy battle for Class 1 honours, with Rochdale based Brown and regular co-driver Paul Stringer overcoming several hurdles throughout the day to take the final class podium spot and 60th overall at the damp Leicestershire venue. In accordance with the current government guidelines, Reis Race Retro will not be held in its usual February dateline in 2021 and will be postponed until further notice until a new date is determined.

London rally driver Ruairi Bell set a blistering pace at the final round of the Junior World Rally Championship, ACI Rally Monza (3-6 December), claiming third place, fastest stage times and his best-ever JWRC result at the unforgiving Italian event.

The Blackheath based 20-year-old not only rounded off his season in style, but such was his speed during the notorious snow-laden Saturday leg of the rally, Bell also set a remarkable 14th overall fastest rally time, beating many WRC regulars in the process, setting him up perfectly to record his maiden JWRC podium at the legendary “Cathedral of Speed”. His result at the weekend also vaulted the Brit to fifth in the JWRC drivers standings. Read More »
