Wayward rival ends Paul Ricard race early for Bird

Frank Bird’s hopes of another strong showing in the Fanatec GT World Endurance Cup Europe powered by AWS were scuppered early when a rival’s spinning car caused damage to the Team WRT Audi R8 LMS and put the Cumbrian and his two teammates out of the race.

Hectic weekend upcoming for busy Bird

The forthcoming May Bank Holiday weekend is going to be a very busy one for Cumbrian driver Frank Bird who will be in action in both France and the UK in two different disciplines for the 21 year old from Penrith.

Starting on Friday with the Circuit Paul Ricard 1000km, Bird will be part of an ultra-competitive 47-car field who will contest round three of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS in the Team WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 which he will share with teammates Ryuichiro Tomita and Valdemar Eriksen.

Bird claims fourth place at Magny Cours for Team WRT

The Fanatec GT World Cup Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup took place this weekend with a double-header race at the French track of Magny Cours where Cumbrian driver Frank Bird suffered mixed fortunes in the Team WRT Audi R8 LMS.

Fourth place in Silver Cup for Frank Bird at Monza

Cumbrian driver Frank Bird kicked off the season with a fine fourth place in the Silver Cup class at Monza when the opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS commenced with three-hour race for the Endurance Cup.

The legendary Italian track is notoriously not the most favourable for the Audi R8 LMS, but the three cars of the Belgian squad showed good pace in practice, qualifying and also in the newly inaugurated SIM racing class.

The 2021 season finally gets underway with the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe taking place at Monza in Italy, with Cumbrian driver Frank Bird in action in what is widely referenced as the pinnacle of the GT3 racing scene.

Owing to the tradition, the legendary Autodromo di Monza will host the 3-hour race that kicks off the Endurance Cup and the whole Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe, which will include 5 events in both the Endurance and the Sprint Cups.
