WWRS14 Hamsterley TVThe television coverage of round three of the 2014 West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship, the SG Petch Tour of Hamsterley, will be broadcast on Motors TV on Friday (23 May) starting at 10pm.

The 90-minute programme, produced by Olly Dickinson and narrated by David Addison, covers the full story of the Co Durham event as another tremendous field of R.A.C. crews tackled stages in Hamsterley forest and Raby Castle. Read More »

WWRS14 Hamsterley AThe special award winners for the third round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship have been announced following the Tour of Hamsterley (26 April).

Mike Tomkinson and Shaun Whitehurst were unfortunate enough to post the first retirement of the rally when their Ford Escort Mk2 developed problems on the opening stage. The last retirement was the Alfa Romeo of John Everard/Mark Sharley, which slid into a muddy ditch less than a mile from the end of the rally. Both crews will receive a £100 voucher from West Wales Rally Spares, as will Ford Escort crew Barry Stevenson-Wheeler/John Pickavance after their number came out of the hat in the draw for a third voucher. hamsterley14 (35)Our 2nd visit to the Tour of Hamsterley saw a superb win by Matt Edwards & Kim Baker (Escort MkII). Seeded at car 11 they set a first stage time outside of the top ten but after that they set the fastest time on 7 of the remaining 8 stages. They did not have it easy and only took the lead by a few seconds after the 3rd stage. Edwards then blitzed the two Raby Castle tests in the middle of the event. Matthew Robinson & Sam Collis (Escort MkII) were just 12 seconds behind after stage 5 but they did not come out Hamsterley forest as they retired on stage 8 with alternator failure. So it was now up to Nick Elliott & Dave Price to take up the chase, who had set fastest time on the first stage in their Escort MkII. Read More »

WWRS 2014 Announce CTwo major regional Challenges will be organised within the 2014 R.A.C. Rally Championship, which is unveiled today (Monday 14 October) during the first virtual championship launch in British rallying.

The 2014 Championship will incorporate individual Welsh and Northern Challenges, aimed at giving the championship as broad an appeal as possible and ensuring that crews with limitations on time or money, or both, can compete for prestigious end-of-season awards. Read More »

Kumho Hamsterley13Having finished a fighting second in round one of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C Rally Championship, Marty McCormack and co-driver Phil Clarke went one better last week (April 28) and achieved overall victory in the SG Petch Tour of Hamsterley by 45 seconds.
